Some background info on the Oklahoma City Thunder:

The OK City Thunder was formerly the Seattle Supersonics. The team was moved after a dispute with Seattle government officials related to their stadium, Key Arena. The New Orleans Hornets franchise actually played many games in Oklahoma City during the 2005-2007 seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In part, this convinced NBA officials and investors that Oklahoma City was a viable market for a professional basketball team.

While the Oklahoma City Thunder have a new logo, new colors and a new name, they retain the rights to the history of the Seattle SuperSonics for the purposes of record-keeping.
